Re: Shout out
Wed, February 13, 2008 - 1:55 PMyou'd think the February blues would generate some snappy banter. oh well
Speaking of curing the mid-winter doldrums with a dose of what's going on these days the two of you in particular shouldn't have missed last weekends NYC music curve. Copal frontperson and balkan/celtic/arabic/electronic master violinist Hanna Gypsy came down from Boston to rage the weekend with us. She sat in with Haj at the Globesonic event, on my set at CoSM (with BlackLight and Spiro), jumped into the recording studio with SubSwara and wrapped up the weekend by fully killin it over both Haj and my sets at CHuRCH. NY may have won the superbowl but Boston took the weekend in freekworld. At the top of my new favorite things to do fo shua. Check out Copal's CD "Eso-terra". The freeks are fully smitten.

... and BlackLight walking in off the street @ 1 AM to grab a mic, push his way over to Alex through a packed room of berserk dancing CoSMsters that Hannah and I had been beating mercilessly for an hour and proceed to freestyle reflect what Alex's brush was creating on his painting while he was painting it while cross referencing the collective art of generating the love vibe in the room. I swear, the more altered seeming revelers looked as if their heads were going to pop. :-)
so yeah y'all really need to par tayyy with us more often. -

Re: Shout out
Thu, February 14, 2008 - 11:21 AMWe had an idea that Hannah would be that epic (I'd been Muse cyber-stalking for months before she got on a bus) but the actual experience still left us as spun as the crowd. We will put out an all points bulletin on all future gypsy sightings. While driving Sefirah to a plane to Costa Rica and beyond she groused at me "great, now that I'm going away for 6 months you guys up the ante with a gypsy goddess violin virtuoso. ...gggrrrrrrrrrr..."
...and BlackLight you know it's like keeping track of greased lightning. He wasn't even going to come until an hour before we played. He demolished the room still wearing his glasses and a winter coat.
So yeah next month at CoSM March 15th Hannah solo set in the gallery (her solo sets are devastatingly beautiful) and jumping in with both Haj (the featured guest artist) and myself (resident DJ). BlackLight, who knows but a faery sighting and gypsy goddess violin accompaniment are known potent forest king bait.
